In general, it is of course preferable to keep conversions to a minimum.
On the other hand, the internal signal processing is of such high quality that we would have no hesitation in recommending that the S Series monitors also be operated in analogue mode.
We use very high-quality converters, the analogue signal is converted in the digital domain with a 24-bit resolution at 96kHz, and the internal processing is done with 32-bit floating point.
With such high-quality solutions, the sound differences are always subject to personal preference.
This is the best way to determine whether the sound difference meets expectations and whether there is an audible improvement.
Please also bear in mind the different perceptions of sound:
‘warmer’ for one person can mean ‘darker’ for someone else.
Conversely, ‘clarity’ is more pleasant for one user, but is perceived as ‘colder’ by others.
There is no better or worse in this sense, but rather your own taste as the deciding factor.
